Where Would You Be Without Your Drama?

By Stop Workplace Drama · Comments (1)

It’s not that difficult to figure out what someone’s drama is. Just listen. We human beings can’t help but talk about our obstacles.

In my book, Stop Workplace Drama, I introduce a new definition for drama: Any obstacle to your peace or prosperity.

With the language comes new imagery of you in the row-boat heading toward your island, and in your way is a big shark.

The shark is the obstacle.

Even though the shark is the obstacle listen to how much we talk about our sharks.

But, you don’t understand my shark.

Because of my shark, I can’t Read More→

Never Hire a Problem-Solver

By Stop Workplace Drama · Comments (5)

You should never hire a problem-solver.

Here’s why:  When you solve a problem, all you get left with is just another problem.

Instead, hire creators.

In my book, Stop Workplace Drama, the eighth principle is “Become a Creator.”

Creators think differently. They know that focusing on the problem only steers the boat in the wrong direction.

Creators know that what you focus on expands.Creators don’t necessarily strive to eliminate anything. They don’t spend energy complaining about what doesn’t work, or why the past didn’t give them a fair shake. They know they can create and they understand their powers, one Read More→

Balancing Choice and Responsibility

By Stop Workplace Drama · Comments (0)

As my influence increases and opportunities expand, I recognize the need to do what is counter-intuitive: slow down, get my rest and master my energy. In my book, Stop Workplace Drama  I introduce a concept that I call the “balancing of choice and responsibility.”

I often say “self-mastery” before team work. In other words, if a person is not willing to be responsible for the energy they bring to the workplace, then no amount of team training or empowerment workshop is going to do the trick.

Case in point: In the medical world the big buzz word is disruptive behavior. Read More→

I Might Be Wrong…

By Stop Workplace Drama · Comments (8)

I set my alarm for 6:00 Sunday morning because I had a  program to deliver at my church.  I took my time, and was ready an hour early so I started my preparation. I grabbed my cell phone and to my surprise it said 9:13.

My alarm clock said 8:13.

Oh no…there must be something wrong with the cell phone.  I checked it again. I put on my glasses.  I looked for other sources of credibility to confirm the problem with my cell phone.

The microwave also said 8:13.  The coffee pot said 8:13.  The oven clock also said Read More→

How Distraction Leads to Drama

By Stop Workplace Drama · Comments (0)

There is good distraction and bad distraction.  A good distraction is when you are feeling exhausted and overworked, and you get an unexpected call from a friend.  Answering the call was a nice distraction because when you ended the call you felt rejuvenated and got a burst of energy.  A good distraction is not a distraction after all…it’s a break that helps you to master your energy, which is the sixth principle I talk about in my book, Stop Workplace Drama.

A bad distraction always contributes to drama.  The bad distraction is when you lose focus to something unimportant Read More→

Reinvention and Change: How to Move Forward

By Stop Workplace Drama · Comments (1)

With change comes resistance. It doesn’t matter if it’s wanted, unwanted, personal or professional. With any significant change there is resistance. In my book, Stop Workplace Drama one of the concepts in the seventh principle is to release resistance.  The easiest way to understand if you are in a state of resistance is by tapping into your emotional experience. It doesn’t matter if we are talking about personal reinvention (which I discus in length in my first book, Success is a Given) or we are talking about leading change in the workplace.

With resistance comes the “feeling” of Read More→
